Houseboat
A holiday feeling at home
This results in sliding doors, great clear lines, an open roof, a walkable glass plate (so you can see the complete height) and harmonica terrace doors which give you large openings to the water and allow you to take a jump straight from the living room.
The client speaks:
“A houseboat means freedom for me. I want to experience that feeling every day. But the previous owners had turned it into too much of an ordinary house in my opinion. That had to be completely different! I gave EijsOntwerpt a broad assignment: I want the feeling of a floating home, where the character of the houseboat must be reflected in the design. During the design process we regularly discussed the design. Marieke listened carefully to my comments and gave good feedback on my wishes.
I didn't always make it easy for her but she always surprised me with her inventive solutions. I share her preference for natural materials so I gave her free reign. It is precisely the contrast between sleek design and a completely wooden structure that gives me a sense of harmony. I am at home here.”
